When arriving (almost) here I did Not Manage to get (push) my OnTheRoad 4.0 🖱️ into town. This picture is looking back and shows how far I managed (not) to get up that road but the next (continous) part (so to the other side) was even at least three times more steep.

No Way, already the first ramp of some 50mts was Way to Steep, and that was what I could see from here anyway. But the houses Raised up High ... That Was A Very Big Problem since I could only continue here anyway by getting Through this town. The Only "Alternative" would be to Return All the Way to Granada ...

I therefor had started to explore the downtown area and was extremely shocked by what I saw. There is simply no space available (anymore ...) since It Is Completely Full With Garbage Here !!! And why is that bench turned the wrong way around ?

So I returned even further, crossed the railwaybridge into the oliveyards-area and there I found a nice place to wildcamp. It was even "a room with a View !". However, the small river next to my tentspot turned out to be an open sewer ! And so the mosquitos where also (t)here !

When nearing Iznalloz it looks nice, and also "typical".

But this is about half of the vertical part of the route I had to climb (so by foot) to get into town. It is nearly impossible to manage these ramps without at least stopping twice to rest ... And "into the town" it is also Hilly, All The Way to the upper-end of it in the far east. Which I eventually never explored anyway ...

The reward is the view from the top. That is, when you walk (fall) down then walking (climbing) up takes all your breath and you won't be able to enjoy whatever haha.

Luckily Moon was there to cheer me up.

I arrived here at a sunday and knew I took the risc that all supermercados and all shops would be closed. But there should always be a cafe open on sundays and I found one. I had two beers in a cafe that however closed already when I had only finished the second one half. Besides that I had to pay at least 50% more then average, so I was cheated, which the owner denied.

So I was on the street again, looking for a place to spent the afternoon. I didn't need much food today anyway but to my positive surprise one supermercado was open, run by a moroccon family. So there I bought quite a lot of drinks and food, having the climb into town in mind that would welcome me also the next day haha. I asked for a cafe that was open, and then the son of the family told me to follow him. He didn't know cafes (moroccon people do not drink alcohol) and he just started walking to search for them, using his telephone.

So further Up we walked, and you guessed it : the very last one, so the "highest" one, was open and I was welcome there to also do laptop-work. As long as I would order some drink so now and then. Ofcourse I would. I finished my afternoon there, and asked for the openinghours (Yes, we're open manana).

I had made up my mind (yesterday already) and would For Sure not return all the way back to Granada. So today I asked people for a taxi-company to bring me to a (any) next town behind that steep ridge. I got this card and sent an email, however, after several hours I got an errormessage that this emailadress does not exits. And since at least a whopping 1% of the spanish people speak english (or dutch, deutsch or francais or whatever), calling is useless. So no taxi.

I then decided to ask for transport at the Morocco-supermercado, and within 1 minute the transport was actually arranged. The oldest son offered to bring me to the east in his van, asking € 50 for that. No problem (this time), and we made an appointment he would pick me up the next morning at 10h30 at the railwaybridge.

Then I left to enjoy my new wildcampspot where I sprayed myself with quite a lot of anti-mosquito-spray (from the Mercadona supermercado) 🖱️. I read some newspapers and then called it a day. I went to bed quite early and actually had no doubts the plan would work out the next day.

However it would be my shortest stay in a very long time. As far as I remeber I stayed only one time somewhere before so shortly and that ws in Villafranca (2018) 🖱️. Which was caused by the very cold wind, the lack of some inside stay after 20h00 and the huge amount of traffic noise.

The next morning I started packing in a hurry (more or less) since I enjoyed the mosquito-free early-morning air just a bit to long haha. And then arrived at the railwaybridge just some 5mins late, which was also caused by a couple in a car halting me to tell me that I was not allowed to be there. Sorry ? I was at an official road, and no signs were there stating that the area was forbidden, let alone for bicycles. I guess that was a matter of whishfull thinking of them ... As my saying is : "Be. Old. Later" ...

Unfortunately I forgot to take any pictures of the situation with the van. I was just to busy preventing Hisam, the driver, from lifting the fully loaded OnTheRoad 4.0 🖱️ in the wrong way. Damaged luggageracks were all I did not need ... But then we left (and arrived ...) without problem.
